I haven’t posted anything ‘news’ worthy in a while. Some of you might think this isn’t ‘news’ worthy either. However, my blog so I write what I want.
Last night I turned the channel to the MTV 2009 Movie Awards. I must say, thank god there was only an hour left. I used to love the MTV Movie Awards. They would spoof upcoming films and most the time it was pretty humorous. Now, it’s just bland.
However, the reason I’m posting is because I’m puzzled by the movie ‘Twilight’. It swept the movie awards. It won best kiss, best breakthrough male performance, best female performance, best movie, and best fight.
Is this the same movie I seen on DVD? I thought maybe I watched the wrong flick or something. The movie “Twilight” blowed. It was slow, predictable, and overall boring. It’s another rehash of a vampire story telling but with a twist – young people fall in love.
I know that sometimes book-to-movie doesn’t do the book itself justice. I figured that was the same with this one. However, for it to sweep the awards just goes to show that if you have a book with a young female following you can just make it into a shitty movie and they will still love it.
Let’s even break this down further…
It won best movie over Ironman, Batman, & Slum dog Millionaire? Really?
“Twilight” isn’t even in the same league as these movies yet it got best pic. That is truly messed up.
Best kiss – who the fuck cares.
Best fight – I’m totally lost on this one. In the movie Cam Gigandet fights Pattinson for about 15 seconds. It’s terrible and again predictable. You want to see a fight watch Cam in Never Back Down. It doesn’t have any vampires, you can still hate him, however, there is “fighting”. Pattinson’s best fight was in Harry Potter. He did die in that film, but it was still better.
However, to say the ‘best fight’ was in Twilight and not Batman or Ironman shows a lot of stupidity.
Best break through performance of a female and male – This is plain bullshit. Stewart and Pattinson had better acting and roles in other movies. Stewart in The Messengers and Pattinson in the Potter flick. If anyone should have won this – it should have been a few of those kids from Slum dog. However, there wasn’t a catchy book with a huge teen following preceding that movie.
